FS: Rolex 16570 U Explorer II Polar Holes Case Rare Tritinova

For sale is a very rare excellent condition 40mm stainless steel Rolex Explorer II Polar “Tritinova”. The 16570 is an Userial, circa approximately 1998, and accompanied by boxes, but not papers. The Rolex features a brushed steel case, which is accented by a fixed brushed steel 24 hour bezel that is engraved with black enameled units. The bezel has been preserved well, as the enamel is crisp and dark black in color. The Explorer II is mounted on a 78790 Oyster bracelet, which is secured by a safety lock deploment clasp. The clasp is stamped with a “U6” clasp code, which correlates to a production date of June 1998, meaning the bracelet is original to the watch. The bracelet contains three removable links and sits comfortably on a 7.65 inch wrist. The bracelet also has minimal stretch and would rate it 95%. The Rolex features a white “tritinova” dial with applied luminous hour markers, luminous hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock. The movement used in the 16570 is the Rolex Calibre 3185, which features approximately 50 hours of power reserve. It is worth noting that the factory “tritinova” dial which is mounted on the Explorer II is a true rarity, as Rolex watches with these dials are rarely up for sale. The dial is clearly marked tritium, however during production Rolex applied Super-LumiNova hour markers and hands (hence the name Tritinova). There have been a few other documented examples of Rolexes with these dials which were produced during an extremely small window during Rolex’s transition from tritium to Luminova luminescence. Tritinova dials were applied to Rolex within the mid to late U serial range, which correlated to late 1997 / early 1998. Furthermore, the Explorer II is all original, and is a well preserved example of a rare factory “tritinova” 16570. The case has been preserved well, which is evident by its crispness / thickness, and by the fact it still retains its original case back sticker. The bracelet also contains minimal stretch, while the cornett on the clasp has not been worn down and is still fairly crisp.

Shall deliver with a 15 month in house warranty on the movement for $8,350 plus state tax where applicable.
