We are proud to present this rare and highly coveted Lemania 15 TL Chronograph from the 1940s with step case.
While Lemania issued chronographs to several armed forces around the globe, the present example is deemed a civilian version due to the lack of military engravings.
Please read the condition report carefully and refer to the high resolution pictures to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Lemania 15TL chronograph, case number 43956.
DIAL+ HANDS: The gorgeous black glossy dial appears to be almost immaculate, with sharp and complete white imprint throughout. It started to develop a subtle white spotting patina.
The design is pure 1940s, with large luminous Arabic numerals partially cut off by the chronograph registers at 3 and 9 o'clock.
The white cathedral hands are period correct to this reference and appear to have been repainted and relumed somewhere in the past.
CASE: The thick and sturdy stainless steel stepped case measures 37mm in diameter and 44mm from lug tip to lug tip making it very wearable by today's standards.
Overall, this case is in a lovely wearable vintage condition, maintaining its satin finish and sharply downturned lugs. However, it displays wear, commensurate with age.
CASEBACK: The original, snap in case back comes in stainless steel and an overall good aesthetic condition, with some fine scratches across.
The inner case back bears a perlage decoration and the case number stamp.
CRYSTAL: The domed plexiglass crystal displays some fine scratches and swirls
CROWNS+PUSHERS: The unsigned crown is a replacement that bears a couple of scratches across but winds the watch and sets the time flawlessly.
The oval pushers seem to be correct to the watch, starting and stopping the chronograph functions with no problem and reset perfectly back to zero.
MOVEMENT: The in-house manually wound Lemania 15TL caliber that animates this chronograph, maintains a bicompax display, featuring a constant running seconds at 9 o'clock, and a 30 minutes recorder at 3 o'clock.
The signed movement has been professionally cleaned and checked. It runs correctly and keeps good time. It winds, sets and all the chronograph functions work perfectly.
BRACELET: This watch comes with a new, military style black leather strap with an unsigned steel buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather watch roll.
One of the latest pervading trends in vintage watches is the large, stepped case, mid-century chronographs with glossy black dials and this Lemania encapsulates just that.
Chronographs are inherently complicated to manufacture, for this reason many watch companies brought-in movements from one of the premier chronograph makers of the 20th Century. Lemania housed inside this example one of their finest calibers: The 15TL.
With its oversized case and oval pushers, coupled with the black glossy dial featuring cathedral hands, this is unmistakably 1940's in its styling and captures all the spirit of the Lugrin brothers in a package that's pleasing to the eye.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide 12 months guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and Conditions.
The price is 3,300 CHF Plus Shipping (Swiss Franc) or best reasonable offer plus shipping at actual cost. Low ball offers will be politely ignored.
