Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. FS: Exceptional and original LeCoultre Futurematic

Jaeger LeCoultre "Futurematic" in way above average condition. Black dial (original - not refinished) with raised gold deco markers and original hands. Best case design with horn lugs, 10K gold filled in very nice condition and hand polished only. Measures 34.9mm from side to side and 45.9mm long. The bumper auto wind 17 jewel LeCoultre cal. 497 runs very well, keeps time with all "hack" and power reserve indicator functions are working properly. Completely overhauled on 8-7-2014. New red NOS vintage Hirsch leather strap and a new acrylic crystal. I specialize in restoring the Futurematic (over 50 of them in the past 15 years) and this is one of the better ones that I have seen in a while with no prior unprofessional repairs showing on the movement. Probably the nicest one you find anywhere. Avoid the bargain Futurematic that you will have to have serviced and/or repaired for $500 or more - this one needs nothing!
$1195.00 firm. Free shipping in the US. Outside the US, add $35 for insured shipping. PayPal OK but as a PERSONAL GIFT ONLY. Otherwise a personal check or money order or bank wire transfer. More pics on request.

Here are some technical details about the Futurematic:

A power reserve indicator so the wearer can always know how much power is left in the watch. The little hand moves from the red to the black as the watch is wound indicating the number of hours of power left in the mainspring.

Extremely efficient movement that winds with the slightest movement of the wrist, completely eliminating the need for a winding crown.

Special ratchet arm and bumper hook mechanism that prevents someone from ever over winding the watch, one of the most common weak spots in vintage watches.

When the watch is not being worn the power will not run all the way down. Then, when the Futurematic is placed back on the wrist it will immediately begin running again.

The rotor is suspended both above and below the movement. This keeps the rotor from moving out of its place, something that greatly troubles other automatic movements.

Because of the way the movement works, the Futurematic does not have a slipping clutch on the mainspring like all other automatics, eliminating another possible cause for error.

NOT intended for automatic watch winders.
