FS: Heuer Autavia | Fuerza Aerea Argentina | Military-issued
Up for sale is this gorgeous Heuer Autavia 2446C, commissioned by the Argentinian Air Force (Fuerza Aerea Argentina). The rarity of military issued Heuers cannot be overstated.

This watch was actively used by an Argentinian pilot, whose brother sold it to me after he passed away.

This watch is 100% functional and was serviced at great cost to me in October 2013 (see service details below).

Dial/hands/bezel:
The black dial is aging and free of any scratches or blemishes. With more time, it will likely turn fully to a charcoal hue. The subregisters are a gorgeous creamy white.

The hands have their original lume. The lume in the minute hand is cracked and partially missing. If this were any other watch, I would have relumed the dial and hands. But again, this watch was flown on the wrist of an air force pilot. I didn't want to mess with its military charm. The red seconds hand is also a rarity and, I believe, only found on military Autavias (the standard one is white).

The bezel is a rare Hours-only bezel.

Case:
Terrific case that I don’t think has ever been polished. Thick, thick lugs with original beveled edges. 40mm in diameter (not including the crown). Serial number is 197xxx, among the latest of the snapback cases.

The caseback is engraved with the insignia of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina and stamped with its issue number (778).

Crystal:
Plexiglass and near mint. Happy to have it polished by my watchmaker before shipment.

Crown/pushers:
Crown is original Heuer, but was installed during my service in October 2013. It is properly signed and the correct size (per original specs). Pushers are extra tight and the tubes were replaced in the service.

Movement:
Valjoux 72 movement. Bridge is signed Heuer-Leonidas SA. Very clean and well-oiled. Serviced in October 2013 and keeping time to within 20 seconds a day. I haven't opened the watch since it was serviced and do not have permission to post photos from my watchmaker. I have a less than high-res photo I took of the movement after purchasing the watch (before it was serviced) that I am happy to e-mail anyone who is interested.

Band/buckle:
Am selling the watch head only, but if interested, would be amenable to including the grey/red handmade leather strap and original Heuer 'B' buckle for an additional cost.

October 2013 servicing:
I had this serviced at great cost in 2013 by a Heuer specialist here in the USA. Among the work performed, he serviced/oiled the movement, cleaned the case in an ultrasonic bath, replaced the pusher tubes and seals, replaced the caseback seal, replaced the crown stem, and replaced the mainspring. The service came with a one-year warranty, of which about two months remain.

Accepting offers for this gorgeous military watch. I'll ship it anywhere in the CONUS for free for OTD members and will split the cost of international shipping for our friends overseas.

Please e-mail with any questions.

Thanks Jeff/OTD for this space.
