FS: Autavia 1163T Orange Boy/Gulf

Up for sale is my stunning 1163T Orange Boy. It is the actual watch featured in the Autavia book, photographed by the one and only Paul Gavin.

This is the real deal ‘Orange Boy’ or ‘Gulf’ as some call it. It is all original and 99% untouched from c1972. The 1% is down to me replacing the worn Hour/Min insert with a near NOS genuine Tachy insert from the same model and period.

The case is super sharp, and as far as I can tell has never been polished. There are a few marks here and there, but I’ve resisted getting the case refinished. The crystal is correct and original with a few minor marks. Again, I’ve not polished it.

What makes this an exceptional ‘Orange Boy’ are the dial and hands. The creamy lume and beautifully matching orange accents. Too often these are mis-matched with a mix of faded and non faded elements. As you can see, this one is simply superb.

I have owned this watch since early 2011, and ashamedly I’ve only worn it a handful of times – and it’s about time someone else got to enjoy it and give it some well deserved wrist time. I don’t know the service history, but the movement is extremely clean (see photos). It is currently all running perfectly, but please bare in mind it may benefit from a service in the next year or two to keep this gem in pristine condition.

I’m going to go out on a limb, and say that this is one of the finest, honest & original OB’s out there.

This is a very special watch, and if you have any questions, just ask away.
If I don’t know you, please don’t be offended if I seek some references. Also, please feel free to ask for references about me on here if you so wish.

Please note that some of the photos below show it on the older Min/Hr insert, these pics are included to see the case condition.

I’m selling head only (I will throw in a strap)
According to Rich’s Heuer Price Guide, this shows up as being £4750-£6000.
I don’t expect to get ‘dealer’ prices for it, but that’s just the guide figures I've read.
I'm going to give it a week or so to see what offers I get, hope this is OK with everyone.

PS. I do have a GF Bracelet that can be discussed separately.

Thanks
Stewart
