FS: Glycine Airman SST "Pumpkin"

For your consideration is a original and very rare vintage Glycine Airman SST “Pumpkin” in excellent condition. This is a 1st generation watch and dates to 1968/69. The SST stands for Super Sonic Transport, as this watch was produced as many companies (including Boeing) were in a race to develop what they felt would be the next step in commercial aviation with planes such as the Boeing model 2707 project. This is said to have inspired the plane on the back of the case!

This watch has a 24 hour display, meaning the hour hand only rotates once each day. The dial is too cool with a two-tone: grey for AM and black for PM. There is an internal bezel rotated by the top crown which enables you to keep time in another time zone. (This is functioning flawlessly.) The date is shown at 3pm. The movement is a Glycine signed 17J Automatic (made by A. Schild.) The watch runs great and keeps excellent time. The hands & lume are original and have a beautiful aged to a beautiful patina.

This stunning watch measures 42mm across, 51mm down and is 12mm thick, with 22mm lugs. The stainless steel case appears to have never been polished and you can still see its original sunburst finish. The crystal is in excellent shape with no nicks or scratches. The edges are sharp and both crows are original to the piece. The watch come on a new black leather strap with matching orange accents as shown.
Overall this is a beautiful example of this watch in very excellent and original condition. I hate to let this one go, but I must sell to fund a new purchase! .........As we all do ;)
