FS: Breitling Navitimer 806 AOPA 1965

Hi all

I am selling my Breitling Navitimer 806 AOPA.

Year: 1965
Reference No.: 806

CASE: 40mm round, stainless steel, bi-directional bezel with slide rule. Acrylic glass and case back with Breitling logo, 806 and stainless steel print. Lug size 22mm.

MOVEMENT: High amplitude Venus Caliber 178, hand-wound mechanical column-wheel chronograph in perfect working condition. The movement is just oiled and regulated to perfection.

DIAL: Attractive black stick panda dial with gold/brown AOPA logo and silver/white color slide rule around the outer dial turned by rotating bezel.

HANDS: Good aged condition but probably replaced at some time during the lifetime of the watch.

STRAP: Selling on a used genuine Breitling calf strap (6-7/10) with genuine deployment buckle + a few nato straps.

The watch is very versatile as it can be both dressy and rough depending on choice of strap. It is looking very good with almost all strap combinations.

The Breitling Navitimer was released in the early 1950’s. The name Navitimer is a combination of navigation and timer since the watch was intended for use by pilots. They used the slide-rule to determine fuel consumption and calculate distances. The original Navitimer collection all had an AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) wings logo on the dial as it is believed that this association of pilots collaborated on the development of this model with pilot’s needs in mind. The Navitimer remains the most iconic Breitling model ever produced and the AOPA models are especially very sought after.
