This big diver can go to a new owner, as I need to clear some funds for my next purchase.
It concers an Albatros (according to Mikrolisk a subbrand of either Pierce, Revue Thommen or JLC), delivered by Squale. A vintage 2002 101 atmos model. Pretty exceptional, the first watch case ever built which can go to a depth of 1000m without a helium release valve. Other peculiarities, especially for the mid-70ies, are the 4mm thick sapphire glass (is also mentioned on the dial ‘Saphir’, one of the first series of watches to be standard equipped with sapphire glass), the quartz 7 jewels ETA 9362, the sunburst blue/purple dial, and the diameter of 44mm without crown and about 48mm lug to lug.
This fine piece is 100% original, inclusive ‘Von Buren’ signed screw-down crown (2 to 3 turns – so the thread is fine!), perfectly working bi-directional acryl bezel (nice system, you have to push to turn, otherwise it doesn’t work), NSA metal bracelet, Squale logo on the dial, sapphire glass, and, offcourse, some small blemishes, dings and scratches as a result of the watch’s previous life on the Adriatic coast belonging to a professional diver.
This concerns a rare authentic piece, so NOT one of the many frankenwatches that can currently be found on ebay (made somewhere around 2010 with NOS cases and new dials).
The movement has been checked by a friend watch-fanatic, and appears to be in top shape. Result of the accuracy check; +1 a 2 seconds per 24h, so well within factory specs for such an early quartz.
