FS: 1971 Omega Flightmaster Ref. 145.036 Cal. 911

"Produced by people with their feet firmly on the ground."
After the success found with the Speedmaster Professional, in 1969 Omega looked to follow up on the enormous success of its now legendary Moonwatch with an even more pilot-focused watch. They modified the caliber 861 hand-wound chronograph movement found in the Speedy to include an independently adjustable 12 hour hand capable of tracking a second time zone. Omega even tested the watch in a vacuum to make sure it was up to the hostile environment of space travel.
Another great detail in the Flightmaster was a color-coded set of pushers and crowns, to keep everything easy to reference and use. Black for the inner rotating bezel, blue for the (you guessed it, blue) 12-hour hand, and red and yellow on the chronograph pushers.
What we have here is the second iteration in the Flightmaster line, called the 911. While its predecessor the 910 had an AM/PM indicator in the 9 o'clock subdial and a domed glass crystal, the 911 moved the subdial to a running seconds to let the wearer know the watch was working, and also slightly increased the height of the case and changed to a flat mineral crystal for increased water resistance.
Despite the R&D that went into the Flightmaster, and popularity with commercial pilots, the Flightmaster never took off like the Speedmaster had, and Omega stopped production in 1977.

We're proud to offer an excellent example of the 911 flightmaster that is working flawlessly and is completely original, including the color keyed pushers and crowns retaining their original enamel.

Condition is per the photos and as follows:

Case: 43mm diameter case in excellent condition with only minor wear throughout. The original radially brushed finish is still visible and the case angles present as nice and crisp.

Bezel: Internal rotating bezel in excellent condition as shown. Bezel action is smooth.

Dial/Hands: Original dial and handset in excellent vintage condition. The dial is perfect with great contrast between the black subdials and grey dial surface. The original tritium hands are also in excellent condition with very light patina on the hour and minute hands and a slightly darker graduated patina on the 24 hour hand. Orange chronograph hands are very clean.

Caseback: Original Flightmaster caseback in good condition. The plane and Omega logo are faded from years of wear but still visible as shown in the photos.

Crystal: Excellent condition clear mineral crystal free from scratching, cracks, or chips.

Movement: Original Caliber 911 hand wound chronograph movement in excellent condition with the watch keeping excellent time and all functions working as they should, including chronograph reset to zero. The 12 hour hand sets smoothly. 33 million serial number indicates production in 1971.

Bracelet/Strap: Original bracelet in excellent condition with only very minor wear on the links and moderate "desk diver" light marks on the clasp. The bracelet is sized for a 7.25" wrist and does not come with any additional links.
