FS: American military Benrus Type 1 nice unmolested example

Offered from my personal collection. Excellent example of a Benrus Type I from 1976. Used by the American forces in the Vietnam War, as well as being issued to Navy Seals and the CIA. Makes every other military watches look and feel downright puny. I had four of these to sell and this is the last one. Large monocoque case with a non-reflective finish. Watch is 44mm across at the crown and 47mm lug tip to tip. These watches are really coming into their own these days. Unmolested examples are getting very scarce, and most offered for sale have been altered, pieced together or are outright fakes. Plus, EBAY is now littered with remakes or watches that blend original and remake parts. This is not a watch to take a gamble on; buy it from someone you trust.

This is a really tough automatic watch you can wear daily without worrying about it. Rated as a deep diver and used by pilots for aviation purposes. Don't talk yourself into a Benrus Type I or II that is cheap with a bad bezel, dial or crystal, you'll regret it later.

Crisp dial with nice lume. All numbers intact and clear on the near-perfect bezel, which is always the weakness on these watches. Original crystal with that perfect dome shape with no signs of aging or crazing like most you'll see. Original fixed lug bars, not drilled out like many. Case has original non-reflective military finish and no signs of polishing. Nice deep military stamping on the back. Couple of small nicks on the case edge crown side out of view when on the wrist. The unique screw-down crown is identical in shape and finish to all original ones I’ve seen, but it does not have the hash mark on it.

Watch is running, timing and hacking as it should, but has been stored away in the safe for years. So, if to be worn everyday, you should service the watch. Plenty of pictures follow. If you need other angles or details, just email me at billmahoney@aol.com

Price: $2,450 including $125 worth of bands and free U.S. shipping with insurance.
