FS: Tudor Chronograph Ref. 79280 Transtional Panda Dial

When Tudor was introduced by Hans WIldorf in 1946, the brand's main draw was that the watches offered Rolex quality at a lower price point. Rolex knew it, too, using the brand name on casebacks and the crown logo on case crowns. In the 90s, Tudor started to separate itself as a brand, changing from the familiar Rolex Oyster trademark to the Prince nomenclature, and emblazoning the shield logo on casebacks and crowns. The same quality still remains today as Tudor is one of the most popular luxury watch brands among enthusiasts.
What we have here is one of the final watches from the transitional period where Tudor abandoned the Rolex branding. The Tudor chronographs went from the older signature "Big Block" style to a slimmer case similar to the Daytona, at the same time changing over to a sapphire crystal from acrylic and adding a uniquely styled bracelet. Despite all these revisions, this panda dialed chrono is pre-"tiger" before the chronographs all added the moniker after Tiger Woods inked a sponsorship deal with Rolex. What's left is a clean dial with the modern features built on top of an incredibly solid foundation of robust oyster-cased chronographs.
