FS: UPDATE: IDF-issued Eterna Super Kontiki

UPDATE: Accepting offers on this honest, unique and rare watch:

I’ve decided to sell my Eterna Matic Super Kontiki – issued to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) special commandos. These watches were issued to members of the elite Shayetet 13 unit, the Israeli equivalent of the U.S. Navy SEALs.

As far as authenticity and originality goes, you really can't beat the look of this watch. It looks like it's been through war (in a good way).

This watch looks exactly as it did when it was decommissioned. As you’ll see in the photos below, the crystal is heavily scratched. I left it that way to preserve the wear that an IDF commando put on it. The dial behind the crystal looks flawless. The lume markers are beautifully aged, as is the brighter lume in the hands.

You’ll note the bezel insert is extremely worn — on one side. That’s because the commandos wore heavy nylon uniforms and the sleeves brushed against the watch (worn on the left wrist).

Timekeeping is excellent on the watch. Quickset date functions as it should.

The engraving on the back is in line with all other published photos of these rare watches – there is a unit number and a serial number engraved on the top and bottom of the case back. I put a watchmaker sticker on the watch after I purchased it to further preserve the markings.

The watch comes on a heavy nylon strap in desert tan color.

(Some of the photos below are taken at a 6x magnification.)

As noted above, now accepting offers on this honest, unique and rare watch.

I will cover priority shipping within the United States; international buyers will split shipping costs with me. If I don’t know you, I will ask for references. I’ve been around for a while, and am happy to provide references if you don’t know me.

Thanks as always to Jeff Stein and OTD for this wonderful space.
