FS: Ollech & Wajs Caribbean 1000 Ref. 702.

Up for sale is my Ollech & Wajs Caribbean 1000 Ref. 702.

For those who know the Caribbean 1000 watches this probably doesn't need much of an introduction, for those unaware this link offers a fabulous insight into the history of the watch http://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/17722-definitive-ow-information-and-history/

The case is a stainless steel monobloc (one piece) case with the movement accessed through the crystal. It is approx. 40 mm in diameter and 45.5 mm lug to lug. The height is 16 mm including crystal.

The movement is an ETA 2452 17 jewel automatic with date. The movement has a semi quickset date function.

I believe this example is from late 1960s, early 1970s although I'm happy to be corrected by those more knowledgeable. It has the 12 hour bezel.

I purchased this watch from a gentleman from Germany who suggested that the watch had been serviced by his watchmaker. The watch seems to run fine and keep good time so I have no reason to believe otherwise. The crown was replaced for waterproofing reasons but I still have the original unsigned crown. Waterproofing has not been confirmed or checked.

Overall the watch is in good, honest condition and to my knowldge all original (apart from the crown). The combination of grey dial and bezel seems to be quite rare and is often commented on.

The watch is currently on an Oyster bracelet, I have modified the end links to fit the unusual lug shape but is equally at home on a NATO.

Anyway enough waffling I'll let the photos do the talking;

I'm asking £2000 net to me, payment by Bank Transfer preferred. I'll include RMSD within the UK. Overseas postage available at cost.

Thanks for looking
