SOLD FS: Girard Perregaux Valjoux 72 Chronograph
In Response To: (Message Deleted by Poster) ()

SOLD--thanks buyer and CT.

: At 35mm (38 with crown), 42mm lug-to-lug, and with 17mm lug
: spacing, on offer's a vintage Girard Perregaux chrono powered by
: a Valjoux 72. This watch was owned and used by a private pilot;
: when he passed away in the early 70s, his wife put the watch in
: her bedside drawer and there it has remained since.

: The watch is operating very well with chrono functions resetting
: crisply, though service history is unknown. The brushed
: stainless steel case is in exceptional shape—the lugs are
: still literally sharp, and there’s evidence of only very minor
: wear, with no huge dings or gouges (scratches from wear on the
: back can't obscure the serial number of 268173). The lume on the
: numerals has gone creamy and bubbly, and all hands have blued
: uniformly. The kite hands are brightly lumed, but the lume's the
: same color as the numerals and, from other examples (like the
: one featured on Hodinkee here, which sold for more than twice
: this watch's asking
: [https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/a-shortlist-of-ebay-picks-including-a-gorgeous-omega-speedmaster-a-chrono-matic-from-hamilton-and-more]),
: it seems these hands' lume stays bright. When put to light, the
: hands glow only slightly more brightly than the numerals, and
: for not much longer. The bright silver dial features a bright
: blue tachymeter at the outside edge and is otherwise flawless;
: the scuffs in the pictures are from the crystal.

: The only other issue of note is the small crack in the crystal at
: 2; the watch is unaffected by it, and a new acrylic’s a breeze
: to source. Watch comes on a Speidel band with a calendar insert
: below the bottom lugs (the month displayed is April of '72,
: presumably the last time it was worn).

: Pictures below, and please feel free to email for more if there's
: something you'd like to see. I'm asking $1500 USD OBO
: over Paypal, which includes Priority shipping with signature
: confirmation in CONUS (international buyers, please be in touch
: to work something out). I’m happy to provide references, and
: will gladly accept returns in 72 hours if there's any
: significant material difference between the watch and my
: descriptions. Thanks for asking any questions you've got, and to
: CT for hosting.
