FS: Zenith Defy "Surf" 1977 Automatic vintage watch NSA Novavit *PIC*

Offered is a fine example of the second generation Zenith Defy gents watch. Taking design cues from the 'Genta' generation of watches such as AP's Royal Oak, Zenith included an octagonal crystal design into this model. It is a good size even by todays standards at 37mm wide (ex crown) x 45.5mm.

The "surf" designation relates to original water resistance level but as a vintage watch I would suggest that should realistically be zero almost 40 years after its manufacture. Powered by Zenith's in house 2572PC hi-beat movement, the watch runs at 28800 making the second hand movement very smooth indeed. The quickset date feature is easy to use and the date wheel is colour matched to the dial with white on grey numerals and sits between 4/5 o'clock on the dial as with most Zeniths of the period.

The automatic movement is very clean and running well after a recent re-lube with good accuracy and power reserve. As with all Defy models, the movement has a shock resistant / absorbent ring around the fitment within the solid stainless steel case for ruggedness.

The dial is a period smoke / fume coloured graduated "degrade" type with white seconds marker rail, applied hour markers and is marked "Swiss Made". There is some very minor surface pitting to the dial visible under very close scrutiny, but this does not detract from the piece.

The case has a mixture of brushed and polished surfaces - some re-finishing evident but in line with the original factory finish.Crown / stem has been replaced with a new (unsigned) item recently.

This model still has its original Swiss made peaked link signed Zenith integrated bracelet produced by NSA Novavit. It also is sold with a spare unsigned bracelet and comes in its European Watch Company of Boston black presentation pouch with information card

No warranty implied or provided on vintage watches but please buy with confidence, I have 1180+/100% feedback over 11 years. UK RMSD £10 or face to face in London weekdays. Payment by paypal or cash on collection
