Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. FS: Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver

On offer's a patinated Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver originally worn by a waterman on Chesepeake Bay. Cosmetically, the watch is a stunner: there are light scratches consistent with the watch being a daily wearer, but it's unpolished, with sharp bevels on the drilled lugs and a brushed caseback. Original Nivada-signed crown, original domed plexi, and the MH bezel's begun to gray from age. There are some scuffs at the top of the bezel, as the pictures should make clear.

The Valjoux 92 column-wheel movement's in excellent shape, with great amplitude; the watch is running +/- 5 seconds/day with all chrono functions working precisely. The inside of the caseback shows marks of having been serviced, though it's not clear when. Of note: though the dial is signed only Nivada Grenchen, both the bridge and case back are also badged Croton. I don't know enough about Chronomasters to know if this then represents some transitional watch or what, but I do know everything's original to the watch.

The aged lume in the hands and at the hour markers is (I think) gorgeous, having faded to an orange-brown, carmelish color. All lume's present though has long since lost its glow. There are some very small marks on the dial—there's a constellation of five dots between the Chronomaster badge and the 30 minute totalizer at three. There's also a single other dot just off the 25 hash mark of the same totalizer. These spots are apparent to the naked eye but hardly huge detractions, and, perhaps, could be cleaned. The stainless steel on all the hands also has marks, though this could all be cleaned and/or polished. All other marks are scuffs on the acrylic.

Asking $2000 ONO on this; happy to provide references, more photos, answer questions, whatever (email: wlcutter@gmail.com). Also happy to work out shipping and payment methods with buyer. Thanks for looking, and to Jeff/CT for hosting.
