FS: 1964 Rolex Daytona(Ref.6239) "Floating Daytona" Double Swiss

The first Comosgraph was launched in 1963 and produced in stainless steel, 14k, and 18k gold versions until 1969. This is a very early Daytona and is one of the earliest watches to receive "Daytona" on the dial. The floating Daytona is already seldom seen, but Double Swiss with T is even more elusive and is said to have been a watch that was offered at the Daytona 500 race in 1964. The movement is original and correct Rolex cal. 72B which remains in excellent and original condition. Watch winds smoothly, runs well, Chrono runs, stops and resets back to zero. There is a correct "ROW" stamp on movement, which was Rolex's USA import mark, further reinforcing the fact that this Daytona is fully original and was imported into the US market.

This watch is in investment grade condition and is an early variant that is one of the most elusive and scarce examples of a branded Daytona 6239 ever produced. Not only that, but it has a wonderful presence while on the wrist and is subtly different. We are fans of the little almost unnoticed details here at Craft & Tailored and this watch checks all the boxes for a watch that is exclusive within an already exclusive set of parameters...

DIAL & HANDS

This is a beautiful example of an early and extremely rare double swiss rare small "floating" Daytona variant. This example is one of the earliest branded Daytona examples known to exist. Both the small "floating" Daytona and T Swiss T text are in silver text. The Rolex Cosmograph and the SWISS Text are printed in white on the dial. When viewed in the light the dial has an even and muted brown coloration which is common in the early Daytona 6239 and 6240 examples out of this era. This example also has the early style hands with the long style hour hand and thin running second hand which is original to 6239's of this era.
