FS: Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) Mark 11 6B/346 RAF Pilots Watch *LINK*

Dear All

For sale is this Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) Mark 11 6B/346 RAF Pilots Military Wristwatch c.1948.

The JLC Mark 11 was specifically manufactured to aid RAF navigators to accurately pin-point their intended targets.

The Mk11 was introduced into the RAF and the FAA (Fleet Air Arm) in 1949 and into the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) in 1950. At first Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) and IWC
produced these watches. However, having bought 2,000 Mk 11s from JLC in 1949 the RAF decided to buy only the IWC Mk 11 from 1949 to 1953, when the last RAF orders were placed. This was mainly due to the JLC’s inadequate shock-resistance.

The last JLC Mk 11 was delivered to the RAF in 1953 and most were decommissioned in the 1960’s. It is believed that only around 2,950 JLC Mark 11 s were produced for the RAF.

The watch for sale is a lovely original example of its kind and is in excellent overall condition having been newly serviced by one of our highly skilled and experienced horologists.

The hands and crown are correct to the original specification of the watch.

The original factory dial is in excellent overall condition with no obvious flaws or blemishes.

The casing is in excellent condition with very few noticeable marks or scratches. There is some minor crazing to the original glass which is not overly noticeable.

The 488/Sbr calibre movement is all correct and is in excellent condition and retains its original dust cover. The watch is currently running extremely well and keeping excellent time.

The watch diameter is 35mm.

Please see photos below:

The watch is listed for sale on our website priced at £7,950 which includes a newly fitted NATO strap and quality hand-made leather watch pouch. This price includes free shipping for members of Chronotrader!
