and Today, a Dealer Asking 90,000 euro for Skipperrera
In Response To: Not totally surprising. ()

Perhaps it's human nature that we remember the top price achieved for a watch, and that becomes the benchmark or initial asking price for whatever goes on sale.

Today, we see a Skipperrera listed with an asking price of 90,000 euro. Yes, that is around the top price achieved for one of these over the last five years, but little evidence to suggest that this is what they are fetching today. But we always remember those top prices . . . hope springs eternal.

: There are a few specific areas I keep a close eye on and my
: personal view is not dissimilar to that
: discussed-sellers/dealers simply not accepting the correction in
: the market.

: Maybe they did buy too high and have got caught out, sorry to hear
: that-it's the game they're in-peaks and troughs, rough with the
: smooth etc etc. I'm a bit of a sceptic/pessimist sometimes so I
: still attribute an amount of greed to it I'm afraid. There is
: still stuff sitting around that have been there since nearly the
: height of the market...still the same photos...still the same
: asking prices. But then there are new listings that come on with
: ridiculous asking prices or reserve/estimates and it just seems
: bonkers!

: On the flip-side, (well, actually illustrating the above really)
: I'm continually seeing pieces sell surprisingly 'cheaply'. I
: honestly believe there are bargains to be had out there if you
: look, wait and jump. I've missed out on a couple of items which
: I assumed would go higher but didn't. :-/

: (Of course the term 'bargain' is also to be taken where compared to
: previous prices achieved.)

: Happy hunting is what I say!
