Added to OTD -- Interesting Ref 345; Black Dial; No Radium

Added to OnTheDash -- Heuer Reference 345, from 1939; earliest use of Valjoux 71 that we have seen in a Heuer chronograph. Love these engraved case-backs, for conveying this interesting information.

Reference 345 is a 36 millimeter, non-waterproof case; black dial with painted numerals (no radium); very unusual brushed metal hands, with no paint at all; love the railroad tracks around the registers. Heuer used these railroad tracks in the late 1930s, for the chronographs and dashboard timers.

Interesting that the last three numbers of the case serial number are also marked on the edge of the case / back of the lug, near the balance wheel. Heuer seems to have done this around the 37xxx / 38xxx serial number range.

We have added lots of new photos of this one to OnTheDash -- http://www.onthedash.com/watches/reference-345/

Who else has a Reference 345 (oval pusher) or Reference 346 (round pusher) chronograph to share?

Jeff
