Added to OnTheDash -- Ref 2447 AR (Valjoux 72)

Added to OnTheDash -- Heuer Reference 2447 AR, circa 1946.

This is the true "Pre-Carrera", as the Reference 2447 case, with its strong, angular lugs, would be restyled to become the Carrera in 1963. This is a 38 millimeter waterproof case; silver / white dial with radium for the numerals; syringe hands; Valjoux 72 movement. 75 years later, this case still has its original finish, and the watch is accurate to within 10 seconds per day.

Heuer introduced its first three-register chronograph in the late 1930s, which used the Valjoux 71 movement (14 ligne). In the early 1940s, Heuer transitioned to the smaller Valjoux 72 movement (13 ligne), and continued to use these movements through the 1960s. Even though the Valjoux 72 movement was smaller, Heuer continued with the large 38 millimeter case, which measures 44 millimeters from lug-to-lug.
