Heuer 1000 quartz servicing

I don’t know if this is the right place to be asking questions but this is the only HEUER forum I could find.

Anyway, I have a Heuer series 1000 quartz dive watch that is about 15 years old. It still keeps relatively accurate time (+1 sec/day). However, for the past couple of years it has been unreliable at times. There have been instances where it would run slow (about 5-10 min/day) or even stop. This happening even after changing the battery. It would go back to running well after I rest the time a couple of times.

My question is, this being a quartz watch, does it need some kind of servicing other than a battery change out? And if so, can I take to my local watch repairer or should I send it back to Heuer?

I have four other automatic watches and every 5-6 years I send them in for servicing. I’m not sure what I do for quartz watches. This was the first gift my wife ever gave me so it has sentimental value.

Thanks for any help.
