Targa Florio Movement ... Coincidence ??

I know nothing at all about these watches, but I read with interest the threads below. Including the various oBoy auctions.

Hey Steve, Like you I know nothing at all (yet) about the Flood of Targa Florio's that seem to be seeping in from the U.S. Southwest, nor do I have much knowledge about Heuer Pocket watches in general. In fact I'm expecting to take delivery of my first Heuer Pocket Watch/Chronograph (I do own several Heuer Stopwatches, but not a mechanical Heuer timepiece/stopwatch (one quartz LCD model bought for $15.)) in the next few days (hopefully) or next week depending on how slow of a truck/plane they put it on.

A couple of things struck me when looking at these two pictures...

1) that's a lot of numbers on the plate under the balance wheel of that movement, usually manufacturers (Valjoux and Lemania do this) reserve this area for a movement calibre, not a serial number which is usually put on a different plate.

2) No ring around "Heuer"...

No "Heuer" (ring or no) on the "y" bridge. Otherwise I agree they look identical... Which facilitates people adding stamping's engravings, etc. of their own... Very interesting...

I have found a German Watchmaker called "Huber" in Munich & will ask them about the pocket watch I have. Maybe they can tell me if it is their watch & what kind of movement it is. (it is not signed anywhere).

It seems to me that we might have located a potential source for the movements in these "Targa Florio's". The only thing that would really need some "jobbing" would be the realignment of the minute register so that the "zero" lines up to top dead center on the Wrist Watch version... As the movement is rotated 90 degrees and it's a 30 minute counter 30/4 = 7.5 so it would have to be adjusted to look right.

Just some thoughts.
