Some Thoughts
In Response To: Advice on Dato 12 please ()

I have never owned one of these, or tried to have one serviced, but I would think that the parts for the movement would be in relatively good supply. This was a fairly common movement, used by several brands, and it is of relatively late vintage.

In terms of the date hand, that may be a bit tougher to locate. Maybe the hand could be repaired if you cannot find a replacement??

We seem to see two or three of these per year on ebay, with prices in the $1800 and up range (for nice condition).

How is the outer track on the dial (dates 1 through 31)? Maybe it is just the photo, but these markings look weak.

Let us know what you do. I imagine that there would be some interest among the OnTheDash crowd if you decide not to buy it; and we would like to follow the story if you do make the purchase.

Jeff

: Out of the blue, I received an e-mail from
: someone offering me this Dato. It's one of
: my favourite Heuers so obviously I'm
: tempted. On the down side, it's not running.
: According to the present owner it was
: running until about 5 years ago when he
: stopped wearing it, and now it is wound
: tight. Judging by the not very clear picture
: the date hand seems to be damaged (the half
: moon is not symmetrical). Are these still
: available, or is it possible to repair this?
: Finally, what would be a fair price to pay
: for a watch like this?

:

: Thanks, Ron.
