why I bought a TAG Heuer

I have been a motorsport fan since being a child and remember seeing a lot of my heroes with a 'chronograph HEUER' patch on their overalls.
One day I thought, I will have a Heuer. But when the time came to get one, TAG had taken over and started to produce some real gargoils of watches which were (to me) just awful. Nothing like the ones I remembered from my old magazine adverts.
I ended up with a Rolex submariner, and very happy I have been with it for years.
I have thought about a vintage Heuer, but was put off by the thought of spending a lot of money with the possibility of ending up with a piece of worthless junk. I would have to buy a new one as I am not knowledgeable enough to go vintage with any confidence.
With the arrival of the 'classic series' the problem was solved.
It still took me some time to convince myself that I could live with TAG Heuer on the dial. I would prefer it to say just Heuer, but I thought it's a small price to pay to have a new 'old' Heuer.
I now have a monaco with the blue dial and am thrilled with it.
Perhaps my next one will be a vintage, if I have the nerve?

Hope this isn't too boring.

Mark Baker.
