Regatta.. chrono in action...Aquaracer America's Cup LE
In Response To: Regatta.. chrono in action.. ()

Stewart:

What a fantastic write-up, and -- like you -- I am suddenly into the Regatta watches, after ignoring them (or worse) for 15 years.

In the end, it has been understanding how the start of a yacht race works, and how the teams time the start, that has fueled my enthusiasm for these watches. In addition, I have always been a flyback enthusiast, and these timers also have that feature.

I will plan to add a link to your excellent posting, to my recent one.

And as a sneak preview of another posting, here's how the 15 minute countdown, plus the first 5 minutes of the race, would look on the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer America's Cup Limited Edition.

And, Stewart, is someone going to suggest that the two of us split a video camera / editing app, so that we can get into the modern world with these illustrations?

: Hi all.. Here is my latest Heuer.. the humble Regatta. I've never
: really pined for one of these, but being a big fan of the later
: 11063 Autavia case, I took a punt on this one.. turns out I'm
: rather fond of it.. in fact I wear it an awful lot. I love the
: way the chrono sweep hand is continuous, and flies back when the
: pusher is activated.

: I've done a little write-up on my site, here:

: Also.. I've taken a series of photos showing the 10 minute
: countdown in progress, so sorry for all the pics, but i hope you
: like 'em...

: If you don't know, it's essentially a 10 minute countdown timer to
: the start of a regatta race.. in that 10 mins, the crew have to
: tack the yacht so that when the cannon sounds the start of the
: race, it just crosses the start line at full sail. (a T-10 min
: cannon is sounded, then a T-5 min cannon, then the 'Start'
: cannon).

: On normal running, the discs are black, upon activating the pusher,
: the orange hand zeros, and the discs go blue.. then they go
: though this cycle shown below...

: When in normal 'time mode'..

: 10 min Cannon sounds... hit the pusher...
