I would say to buy vintage...

...for people who don't have tons of disposable income to burn. I wish I could go back to 25-year-old me, who had just gotten his first decent job, and tell him not to buy that TAG Heuer Monaco but instead to educate himself on, and purchase an 1133 which at the time were going for the same amount of money as a new TAG Monaco "Calibre 12". (This was in 2011). I preferred the black and white style of the re-edition Monaco over the 1133 options, but it depreciated nearly 2/3 of its value almost immediately. We all know what would have happened had I purchased an 1133 instead...
