Re: Was this legitimate?
In Response To: Was this legitimate? ()

Hi Luis

The watch is correct and until about a year ago this version (automatic Calibre 12) had never been seen before.

The Autavia with numeral hour markers sometimes referred to as the "Shauntavia" has always been an oddity. They never appeared in any catalogue and over the years, the odd sighting stimulated debate about originality. Then we saw a few two register + date manual wind versions reference 741.603 that seem to pass all the community’s tests to be considered original. Here is my example:

Then we "discovered" the three register version reference 73663 with all the same dial hallmarks as a standard 73663 but the addition of this unique dial design. Here is my example:

and the two together:

Then about a year ago all three (741.603, 73663 & 11630/11063) popped up for sale right here. They were all in well used condition and were signed KAF – Kenyan Air Force. Since then we have seen one or two other 11630/11063’s pop up and I believe they were also KAF signed. Now this example which I believe was a great buy at that price. I looked closely at this watch but held back simply because the dial looked to have some damage – poor seller images and description and no sign of the KAF engraving on the back.

I am sure we will see more of this one and other in time to come. Obviously I am a big fan of these and so to are other on here including Shaun after whom the name Shauntavia was coined.

Regards
Paul
