So we have a bracelet marked 3/70 (third quarter of 1970), and the serial number 204385. This serial number is within the range of other watches with bracelets marked in late 1970 or early 1971. So we have two signs pointing to this being a 70/71 watch. But the mystery is that all other Orange Boys that we have seen have serial numbers in the 240xxx or higher range?

Another point on the timeline -- in the famous advertisement for the Viceroy promotion [detail of which is shown below], which was in magazines in Spring 1972, the model seems to be wearing an Orange Boy. So that Orange Boy likely was produced in 1971, right?

So what I seem to have purchased is a very early Orange Boy. Of course, I will welcome comments, theories, analysis, etc.

The watch was in the hands of the original purchaser; he is certain that the dial and hands were never replaced; he thought that he had purchased it in 1970. Oh, and by the way, it's a great looking watch -- the colors are amazingly strong / vivid, and the lume is beautiful.
