Re: Nice Buy on 1163 GMT at Yesterday's Knightsbridge Auctio

Hello Jeff,
It is nice to see the RED chrono totalizer hands emerge again. I believe that Heuer tried to add some color to the dials and it presents it well.
As you know, I had my Autavia hands changed by Heuer because they were not readable in RED Cockpit light as described in my article in your blog section.
My 1163 GMT serial number is 243876 and was purchased in December 1972. This may help you in determining a production time bracket as to when Heuer produced these timepieces with the RED Needles.
One thing strikes me strange that Breitling is producing the 50 th. anniversary Navytimer with Red totalizer hand, "Instruments for Professional Pilots". They work fine for Earth bound folks, but are useless in most cockpits. So, once again, Heuer did the right thing by installing BLACK Totalizer hands on their AVIATION Chronographs.
Thanks to all, Heinz.
