Autavia 2446 CT

I am contemplating parting with my Autavia 2446CT. I have owned it since new when I purchased it in March 1968. I wore the watch everyday until about 1995 during my time working for Lotus. I have the original box and instruction booklet and the watch continues to work perfectly. The only thing that is not original is that I had a replacement Heuer steel bracelet fitted in the 80's. It has never been polished or re-lumed. I also have a few photos of me wearing the watch while working on various Lotus formula 1 cars. My dilemma is whether to put the watch in an auction or offer it for sale on line. Obviously I have seen some quite differing values realised at recent sales and would like to get some idea as to the REAL value of my watch.
I would appreciate any advice that OTD participants may wish to pass on.
