Difficult to Assess This Carrera Dial
In Response To: Opinions on this carrera dial ()

Yes, once again we face the question -- (a) rare prototype or test dial or (b) refinished / fake??

Some elements looks really fine / excellent detail, which we do not usually see on the refinished dials. But then again, this dial looks so different / so strange compared to any of the Carrera 45 Dato dials that Heuer was using. But someone will say that the Monaco and Autavia test dials were just as strange / just as different.

I will not even hazard a guess as to whether it is genuine / basement refinishing job . . . I lean toward the "refinished" conclusion . . . yes, another of the mysteries of this hobby!!

: Saw this worn in a vintage watch shop in japan. It wasnt for sale
: but I thought the dial is nothing I've come across.
: Under the loupe the logo and other print was crisp and dial showed
: browning due to authentic aging. Markers are slightly different
: from the usual too.

: Any thoughts?
