I highly agree with your thoughts, as I was asking myself the same thing yesterday.
Quite bizarre to me that everyone celebrates Omega's 60th releases as genius whilst they litteraly are the replica of what they made 60 years ago. Where is the progress ?
Is just an upgrade of build quality & finishing enough to ask me for 7,000 of my hard-earned $ ?

I believe it is a trend that goes beyond watches (cars, furniture): vintage is cooler than futuristic stuff nowadays. I don't believe it will last forever, trends never do!

Guess we'll find out in 50 years
