...this one begins with an auction listing in deepest Asia. I stumbled upon it on an internet search, which is how I do with most things. There were 3 murky photos, and a description merely of

'Size- Case (Crown excluded): Vertical 4.5 × Width 4㎝. Around the arm: about 19 ㎝ Please note these are amateur measurements and there may be some errors.

Condition- Second hand goods · service completed May 18, 2017. Unused since service.

In addition, please confirm condition with the photographs.'

(There was no mention of Chronomatic anywhere in the listing.)

What followed was an incredible gamble, with minimal (potentially non-existent) protection and a large amount of money at stake. It paid off in the magical moments I unwrapped it yesterday...........
