Re: Are the gold carrera's undervalved?

: There seems to be almost no interested in the early gold carrera
: (except for the 2456). Most of the excellent web sites written
: by members seem to hardly cover them. The can be bought at a
: discount to the metallic. I can disclose I have a 3468S which is
: very nice on the wrist. Unfortunately not seeing much wrist time
: at the moment because it's away in Belgium at the spa. Yes
: perhaps the dials don't contrast as nicely as more of the other
: variants but the discount seems a little too large given that
: they are a little rarer? If these watches catch on with the
: Asian market could the interest in anything gold increase?

A nice example sold yesterday in Germany for 3k€, which is maybe 75% of what a nice 3647S would bring...
To me, it doesn't make it undervalued, mainly because it's gold plated. I wear all of my watches, and would be a bit afraid of wearing a plated piece, especially a "dressy" watch like the Carrera.
It comes down to your taste: if you don't mind plated watches, and like the look of gold pieces, then it's a win-win for you, because you can get a great watch for a great price ;)
