Autavia 1163 -- I Call It Mark 2 / Heavy Red Accents
In Response To: my new Autavia 1163 from 1969 ()

I believe that yours is part of a short series of Autavias, that was offered for a very short time, immediately after the introduction of the Chronomatic version of the Autavia 1163 MH, in the Summer of 1969.

With the distinctive heavy read accents on the dial, that are the same as those on the Chronomatic and stronger than the later production models, it's a great looking watch!!

We see this version in some of the early advertisements, with the chronograph second hand being white. My guess is that this hand, and the movement itself (originally a Cal 11), must have been replaced (or at least repainted) during a subsequent servicing.

It's a fine looking watch . . . and one of the rare ones. And the 1/69 marking on the bracelet makes it collectible, as well!!

Thanks for your posting!!

Jeff
