I Like What Dan Henry is Doing
In Response To: Interesting Offerings ()

I will write more, as / if / when time permits, but I also like the Dan Henry approach.

The creator of these watches has a huge collection of vintage chronographs and he has deep knowledge of the best vintage watches.

So if told me that I had a budget or $200 to $300, and offered me the choice of (a) walking into the local mall and buying a good looking fashion watch, (b) searching the web for all the new brands that are making $200 watches, in classic styles, for the young / hipster / millennial market, or (c) buying a Dan Henry, I would go for the Dan Henry homage watch, in an instant. Yes, you can say that this matches up well with my preference for the style of the classic watches.

It might be interesting to check in with Dan to find out who is buying these watches.

: I, personally, would not wear these as I'd prefer the actual thing
: that they're emulating. That said, I generally like what Dan
: Henry is doing, as it provides a halfway point for people who
: can't spend thousands on the vintage models but still like the
: aesthetics and designs. In many cases, I'd wager that they serve
: as the gateway drug to true vintage watches as well.

: I'm glad to see that they didn't emulate the iconic Carrera case
: though - best to leave that to the icon itself.
