I think Jeff did a very good job of giving his reasons for acquiring some of these re-issues. Just to emphasize one of Jeff's points; I bought my original Autavia re-issue (first new watch I ever bought) to wear when I travel for business. Like Jeff, I hate to run the risk of doing permanent damage to a beautiful vintage watch from my collection so...right now as I am jostled about in the turbulence at 30,000 feet in the air on my flight back home I am happy to be wearing my new re-issue instead of a 2446 from my collection.

Like Jeff says, these tribute watches are not for everybody. If you don't like them, I get it. I like a few of them and they save wear and tear on my real watches.
