Spotted on Facebook -- One Man's Approach to Luxury Watches

I spotted this on Facebook -- a posting by Ryan Lloyd, in the Just About Watches Group.

Here is a link to the posting -- https://www.facebook.com/groups/317332525298762/permalink/829621104069899/

It made me wonder how many of us could define our approach to collecting (or articulate our Mission Statement) in just a few words?

With that, here is Ryan's "approaches to luxury watches":

  • We are blessed to own one luxury watch.
  • Each watch represents something different about my feelings and personality. My daily watch selection reflects my mood and expectations.
  • My watches were carefully considered long before the purchase. An acquisition should be rational and emotional.
  • One watch per brand. Not more then one watch purchase per year. Its ok to skip years if needed....again revert back to the first lesson.
  • If you love watches, then you should have a Rolex. They really are excellent!
  • In 2019, 36mm is too small in most cases.
  • My money does not wait on a list.
  • ETA can be good.....but not for one penny above 3k.
  • That quartz piece he's wearing, might have been his grandfather's, and sentimentally worth more then a Patek.
  • What is IWC thinking?
  • You should have one moonphase piece
  • Watch collecting is a rich man's game. I am not rich, but if you are, you should have a Holy Trinity piece.
  • Its supposed to be fun :)

Thanks to Ryan for providing this food for thought!!

Jeff
