FS: Lemania Series 2 RAF 6BB 1958

For sale RAF issued 1958 Lemania Series 2 6B mono-pusher chronograph. Unpolished 100% original and working perfectly with perfect dial and case - any spots you see are on the glass not the dial.

This watch is from an ex-RAF pilot stationed in the Middle East from 1955 until 1966. He flew Venom FB4s, Vampire and Canberra Jet aircraft and this exact watch was purchased from the original owner's family. It comes with letter of provenance from the owner's family and a fascinating full detailed story of the pilot's RAF career and service. After many years of active service in 1966 he was posted to Central Flying School at RAF valley where he taught low-level cross country simulated attack training and was issued with the pictured RAF issue Smiths 1/5th sec 30 minute stopwatch.

Both are in immaculate original condition as per the pictures.

The engraving on the back of the Lemania stands for Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation - the name for the British Department of Transport between 1953 and 1959.
The previous owners weren’t 100% certain why it should be marked as MTCA but they estimated that it might be due to the company being stationed in Cyprus and so they didn’t want to be shipping in more readily identifiable military equipment.

The watch is fixed bars as per issue but it will be delivered with a leather strap glued into place which is easily removed.

All in all this is a fantastic package with documented provenance and fascinating RAF history from the original owner's family with the added bonus of the RAF issued-Smiths stopwatch in untouched condition with box.

I have many references on this forum over the last decade as both a buyer and seller - you can buy in complete confidence.
