Re: Siffert and Sue (and an Autavia) -- Photo and

Hi Jeff,

Great to see that intimate, relaxed pic of Jo and his Autavia. Several years ago just as interest in vintage Heuers was building I was the first (I think) to refer to this watch as the Siffert Autavia. Pretty soon this became the standard way amongst collectors to reference this great chrono. I have several pictures of Jo and his Autavia on file which I'll get to you. Check out the books: "A French Kiss with Death" and the Siffert Biography for more great pictures. A French Kiss with Death also has great shots of the McQueen Monaco- its a book about the filming. It is correct to assume that the Chronomatic signed dial was most likely the version he wore.

Other famous drivers and their Heuer Chronos that spring to mind immediately are:

Bruce McLaren- Early first series Carrera- silver dial

Clay Regazzoni- Heuer Silverstone, brown face (have seen pics of him with a blue faced Silverstone too).

Jacky Ickx- Heuer sponsored Ferrari, his team, but I've never found a pic of him wearing a Heuer....although he did have the Leonidas Easy Rider named after him. (Lucky guy).

Niki Lauda- Heuer Chronosplit LED/LCD in Stainless Steel

The Jo Siffert Autavia

The Steve McQueen Monaco (first series, square ended hands and reflective [not matt] blue/black dial with white registers)

I have photos and a list somewhere that I will dig out.

I'd be really interested to hear of any other famous drivers I have missed who wore Heuers that we have photo evidence of.....

Cheers to all

Stewart.
Australia.
