On the topic of ebay and authenticating watches. This may not be an issue when buying newer watches but I purchased an older (1940s) Omega watch on ebay and checked the serial number and casing number.
I emailed the Case number and serial number to Omega and found out that while the movement and the watch casing were both original omega's, the movement was not made for that casing.
So in effect the watch I bought had all original parts but isn't really an "original."
Just an FYI for those of you buying older omega watches on Ebay.
