PayPal scam - Warning !!

Hi Guys,

I just got a PayPal scam E-mail. It nearly fooled me.

The E-mail claims that I have just paid about $400 to someone in Chicago ( Not Chuck ! ) for an Omega watch.

At the end of the E-mail is a link to press if I disagree with the payment.

Initially I was just pressed the disagree link, the "PayPal" screen asked me for my logon name & password.......

However, looking at the web adress for that page, showed me I wasn't on the PayPal site.

So I tried the logon id Pamela.Anderson@....com & password "goaway"... ( or similar..but but rhymes with Duck )... amazingly I got in ! it them asked me to confirm my "complaint" by entering my full name & address & credit card details... I gave up at this point & killed the browser screen.

I have sent the "original" E-mail to spoof@paypal.com Hopefully they will react & shut the website down pretty soon.

I also signed onto PayPal.com & checked my recent activity.... amazingly I haven't used my account for over a month now.

I normally just ignore these "phishing" E-mails, but this one was for a payment for something I am VERY likely to buy.

So a quick word or warning guys, if you EVER get an E-mail like this ( or from eBay or whatever ) DO NOT use the link in the E-mail. Open a new browser window enter the webiste that "sent" you the E-mail ( in this case PayPal.com ) & check DIRECTLY there.

And Finally, IF you ever think you have mistakenly enterd your logon-id & password in a "fake" site, go to the real site & change your password immediatley !

Be careful out there.

Steve
