This EXACT problem has happened with two of my Omegas (one a black 2254.50 Seamaster and the other a DeVille Power Reserve co-axial). Both of them were sent back to Omega under warranty. In fact, the Seamaster is there right now.
In both cases they recommended a complete maintenance service, so your watch is given a full overhaul. The watch comes back all polished up and looking like new in addition to being repaired. I'm afraid this is what your watch needs.
