Re: Omega's "Official" Service Policy??

: "Access to OMEGA's international
: after-sales service network is available
: only to owners of genuine OMEGA watches with
: a serial number and correctly completed
: warranty card. OMEGA does not service
: watches purchased outside its network of
: selected retailers."

: I read this statement being for "warranty
: repair only".

The paragraphs above this one in the book I received deal with warranty repair. Had that statement actually said "Warranty repair is only available to..." instead of "Access to..." then I would agree. Their statement clearly implies that you cannot have "access" to their factory service network without an AD stamped card and an in-tact serial number.

: Why would they not service a genuine watch that
: is out of warranty,or second hand,or missing
: serial no.s on the case if the client is
: paying for the work???

Out of warranty or second hand is fine, and would not be limited by this policy (as long as the watch was originally bought from an AD). And, yes, the owner pays out of pocket once the warranty has expired. Gray market watches with or without serial numbers seem to be excluded from eligibility for ANY factory service according to this policy. However, as Keith noted, Omega seems to have flip-flopped and not stuck to it, anyway.
