Pre-emptive post... I can't state, only opine...
Georges may I ask you a question. Posted By: SteveW62 <Steve_Waddington@yahoo.com> Date: 3/30/06 13:29 GMT In Response To:not a big year, the big year of marketing maybe (georges zaslavsky)
Hi Georges, may I pick you up on a small point in your post. The 3612 has not been tested under rough conditions, it is a nice movement but I am not sure if it has the same level reliability of older lemania modifed Omega movements.
- How do you KNOW this ? Do you KNOW what testing has been done on the 3612 ?
I don't & would like to know where your facts are coming from.
S. A pre-emptive post on my part...
I can't personally state that “The 3612 has not been tested under rough conditions” nor can I state that any c.33xx movement hasn't been tested under rough conditions. However, considering the failure rates of the various and sundry F. Piguet movements offered by Omega as c.33xx movements, I can opine or speculate that what testing was conducted by Omega was not especially adequate or effective in keeping the failure rate to tolerable levels or what typically occurs with other chronograph movements: such as the Rolex Daytona, Zenith El-Primero, Valjoux 7750, Lemania 5100, ETA/Dubois-Dépraz, etc.
I've had similar discussions on this point over at TZ Omega Forum, recently.
I figured I might as well post this now, because I am pretty sure my name was about to come up in this conversation..
And so it goes...
