Re: all depends of the movement inside the watch

Hello and thanks to everybody for replying!
I'm looking at a Jeager-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Taille. Does that make your "good" list? Thinking about buying this watch reminds me of the first watch I received when I was 8. It was 1975 and my uncle gave me a wind-up Seiko as a gift. Buying a JLC just reminds me of how much I don't like how life has become so monotonous and stressful! I suppose, based on the information I've received, I just have to wind-up the JLC once a day to keep it "on-time". By the way, how accurate can I expect a well maintained wind-up to operate? Is a couple of minutes a day about right? Not that I'm being picky - otherwise I'd buy a quartz watch...(GASP!)
Again, your input is appreciated!
Cheers,
Lawrence

: Hi

: Manual winds can be extremely especially
: vinatge ones and some new models but inhouse
: one. I don't count Eta 6498-6497 or Eta
: Peseux 7001 as high qualidity movement but
: just average quality movements.
: What are the good movements in the hand wind
: category: in the vintage category: jaegar
: lecoultre, bullova 11ac, omega with calibre
: 230 to 245, 30t2 (266 to 284), omega cal
: 600-601-610-611 and omega cal 1030, rolex
: with calibres hunter,1210,1215,1520 and
: 1525,IWC with calibres 401-402,83,87,88,89
: and cal 91, certina including calibres 19-25
: to 19-36,25-661,321t to 324t,cortebert with
: calibres 281 and cal 661 to 707,cyma with
: calibres 030 kb to 033kb, calibres 334 to
: 459,elgin with cal 685,enicar with calibres
: 1010 to 1012, calibres 1292-1293 and
: calibres 980-981, excelsior park calibre 5,
: favre leuba with calibres 250 to 279, FHF
: with all its handwound calibres,Gruen with
: calibres 123 Quadron,215RSS,405 to
: 440,Junghans with calibres 680.70 to 684.77
: (best finish and quality),longines with
: calibres 12.68z,12.68l, 19.4,22L,25.17abc
: and calibres 27 to 30,Mathey Tissot with
: calibre 10.5(based on the excellent cyma
: calibre 417k),Minerva with calibres 48 to
: 50,patek philippe with calibre 10-200 and
: 23-300pm,universal with calibre 330,zenith
: with calibres 126,126-6,135,2310 to
: 2522c,2530 to 2532c, 2540 to 2542c and 2562
: to 2572c.
: I excluded from this list Hamilton mainly used
: Eta ebauches in the past for its movements
: and those ebauches were generally poorly
: finished and of mediocre quality, Eterna for
: its poorly finished and poorly accurate
: movement (according to the feedback I have
: on their vintage movement),Girard Perregaux
: who mainly used AS ebauches but didn't
: rework them to make something of high
: quality and seiko which is not a big sign of
: quality according to many collectors I know
: In today watches: Union Glashütte,Breguet,Lange
: & Söhne,Glasshütte,Philippe Dufour,De
: Bethune, Parmigiani Fleurier,Speake
: Marin,Jaeger,
: Rolex,Audemars-Piguet,Lecoultre,Minerva and
: Zenith are proposing you very high quality
: movements.I didn't include in this list the
: last Panerai 8 days movement which is just a
: copy of the JLC 8 days movement and the
: seiko credor(not enough prestigious in
: Europe and far to compare with swiss
: calibers). For most of the brands I quoted,
: price of handwind watches is high and also
: include to this the delivery date.
: Conclusion is that vintage watches offer much
: more interesting possibilities than today
: watches and with calibres far more
: interesting and of far better quality than
: etas.
: good luck waht ever you decide.

: regards
