Re: DeVille Question
In Response To: DeVille Question ()

The ditch of your watch is set wrongly. What this means is taht the axle of the balance (escape movement) goes directly into the jewels and when the watch stops, the balance (flywheel) will be in the centre. If the ditch is adjusted to a pisition where the balance stops a bit off centre, the moment you handle the watch, it will start running. I have a Constellation with a 565 movement which also needs a TWIST of the hand, not shaking, to get it started but it runs fine and I will not bother to have it fixed. I also have a Geneve which, on the other hand, is adjusted with the ditch off centre. It starts running the moment I pick it up and even before any winding. So, there is nothing wrong with your watch. If you don't like it as it is, have it adjusted but be sure, it is not broken.
