International Warranty offered by Non AD's

I have been momitoring this site for a few months after I bought my first Omega automatic watch ( A Seamaster Professional 2531 8000 ) from my local AD.
This brought my little stable of watches up to five ( Rolex GMT Master II, Omega Seamaster, Roamer Limelight Automatic and two quartz chronographs by Sewills of Liverpool ).
My knowledge of watches in general is very limited but, by monitoring this site, it has increased tenfold.
I am thinking of adding another watch to my collection, either a Planet Ocean or Breitling Aerospace.
Browsing the internet I note that some gray market traders are offering Omega watches with International Warranty cover. Apparently the warranty card is endorsed with the name of their supplier, who is supposed to be an AD.
Are Omega aware of this practice and, if so, why do they not take action to stop it - otherwise it defeats the whole AD system ?
Finally can someone advise me on the following point. If I buy say a 5 year old second hand watch, whose warranty has expired, will Omega accept it for service or repair ?
My common sense tells me they will not but will someone please confirm or deny this.
I look forward to many more enjoyable hours reading the postings and improving my knowledge of Omega watches from the experts on this site.
Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
