Re: International Warranty offered by Non AD's

: Browsing the internet I note that some gray
: market traders are offering Omega watches
: with International Warranty cover.
: Apparently the warranty card is endorsed
: with the name of their supplier, who is
: supposed to be an AD.
: Are Omega aware of this practice and, if so,
: why do they not take action to stop it -
: otherwise it defeats the whole AD system ?

I don't know whether Omega is aware of the practice, but if they were to be given the name of the AD who stamped the card and then sold it to the gray market seller for resale, that AD would lose his AD status. I'd be very surprised to find that any AD would be willing to risk his AD status by stamping a card that he knows is going to a gray market dealer. It's like leaving your fingerprints on the murder weapon. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, just that it seems to defy logic.

: Finally can someone advise me on the following
: point. If I buy say a 5 year old second hand
: watch, whose warranty has expired, will
: Omega accept it for service or repair ?

Absolutely, but you will have to pay 100% of the repair costs since the watch is out of warranty. When you buy a new Omega, the warranty follows the watch, not the owner. The watch can be sold 10 times during its 2 or 3 year warranty period, but as long as the current owner has the AD stamped and dated warranty card, Omega will service the watch under warranty (starting from the date of ORIGINAL purchase).
